Section 130 - MotorBlind™ TRS
Part 1 - General

1.01 Abstract:
A. Scope of work is to provide horizontal blinds, pleated shades, and cellular shades that are operated by BTX motorized lift systems along with, accessories, attachment hardware, and equipment necessary to complete satisfactory installation.
1.02 Submittals:
A. Manufacturing literature to describe assembly, materials, installation instructions, and specific data. Include any pertinent wiring diagrams.
B. Shop drawings are to include but are not limited to, all components, fasteners, and installation methods.
C. Window systems are custom-built based on measurements taken in the field.
1.03 Quality Assurance:
A. Manufacturer's Qualification
1. BTX Window Automation is the original manufacturer of a unique line of motorized headrail systems, electronic shading devices and controls.
B. A qualified installer or sub-contractor shall perform installation.
C. Installation shall conform to Local and National Building Code and any applicable local standards.
D. Sample system may be provided upon Architect's request and BTX authorization.
1.04 Delivery, Storage and Handling:
A. Systems to be delivered to installation site or to installer intact in original manufacturer's custom-built containers.
B. Systems shall be operated under normal room temperature range, humidity, and operating conditions.
1.05 Warranty:
A. Provide BTX standard limited warranty of five (5) years from date of shipment against defects in materials and workmanship of motors and hardware. Electronic and electrical controls are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for two (2) years from date of shipment from the factory.

2.02 Components:
A. JA 06d motor shall be asynchronous 110v/60Hz rated at 110-120 Watts developing 6 NM torque capable of lifting 53 lbs. JA 12d motor shall develop 12 NM torque capable of lifting 106 lbs. 220v versions of each motor are available. Motors shall have sprayed enamel shock resistant motor coil and are moisture resistant and fire resistant. All motors are UL and CSA recognized. Motors are of a squirrel cage gearbox construction with integrated thermal protector for automatic switch off to prevent overheating. Motors shall have internal capacitors and double shaft takeoff that allows for motor placement in the center of the headrail with shafts extended in both directions. Motor size allows for installation in spaces as small as 2.25" X 2.25". Limits are a flush design and motor can be installed so that limit controls can be accessed from either the top or the bottom of the headrail.
B. Hex Adapter shall be cast aluminum to connect 7mm hex shaft to motor. Optional 7mm Hex Shaft Coupler made of steel may be necessary for some applications.
C. Tape Reel for 2.6mm tape is made of injection molded plastic. For heavier applications, an available 7.6mm tape reel may be required.
D. Tape shall be either 2.6mm in width or 7.6mm in width and made of reinforced nylon. Available colors are alabaster, brown, and neutral.
E. Tape Reel Housing shall be injection molded plastic and made to fit into a precut opening in the headrail.
F. Bearing to guide and support 7mm hex shaft shall be made of two interlocking pieces of injection molded plastic.
G. Grooved Pulley for tilting horizontal blinds is made of steel.
H. Set Collar to secure 7mm hex shaft shall be of steel and have a 2.5mm set screw.
I. Tilt Rod Cover is constructed of injection molded plastic and prevents tape backlash.
J. 2" Bracket shall be made of formed steel with quick release capability.
K. End Caps are made to fit snugly over the ends of the headrail to give the overall assembly a finished look and are made of molded plastic.
L. Headrail shall be made of form rolled steel. Available colors shall be white, alabaster, silver, bronze, and black.
M. Hex Shaft shall be 7mm in dia. and made of steel.
2.03 Controls:
A. The switching device to activate the system shall be either a BTX switch for hardwired control or the BTX radio or IR remote control. Multiple systems shall be controlled either individually or by BTX group controllers or automatic controllers including sun sensors and programmable digital timers. Controls can be integrated with home automation, or building management systems.
Part 3 - Execution

3.01 Inspection and Preparation:
A. Qualified installer shall be responsible for window measurements prior to installation, installation conditions, and preparation of all mounting surfaces.
B. The power supplied shall be 110v or 220v AC three conductor to the primary switch (hardwire switch, radio or IR receiver unit, or BTX automated controls). Wiring between primary switch and selected control units shall be in accordance with manufacturer's wiring schematics and specifications. All on site wiring shall be provided by the owner.
3.02 Installation:
A. System installation shall be in accordance with BTX mounting instructions.
3.03 Maintenance:
A. Lift system components should not require routine maintenance under normal operating conditions.
B. For care of blinds and shade materials refer to manufacturer's care and use directions.
