of work is to provide vertical blinds for commercial and/or residential
applications that are operated by BTX motorized traverse system along
with, accessories, attachment hardware, and equipment necessary to
complete satisfactory installation. |
| 1.02

Submittals:

A. |
Manufacturing
literature to describe assembly, materials, installation instructions,
and specific data. Include any pertinent wiring diagrams. |

B. |
Shop
drawings are to include but are not limited to, all components, fasteners,
and installation methods. |

C.

Window
systems are custom-built based on measurements taken in the field.

BTX
Window Automation is the original manufacturer of a unique line of
motorized headrail systems, electronic shading devices and controls.

A
qualified installer or sub-contractor shall perform installation.

|
Installation
shall conform to Local and National Building Code and any applicable
local standards. |
|
D.
|
Sample
system may be provided upon Architect's request and BTX authorization.

Delivery,
Storage and Handling: |

Systems
to be delivered to installation site or to installer intact in original
manufacturer's custom-built containers. |

Systems
shall be operated under normal room temperature range, humidity, and
operating conditions. |

Warranty:
|
|
A. |
Provide
BTX standard limited warranty of five (5) years from date
of shipment against defects in materials and workmanship of motors
and hardware. Electronic and electrical controls are warranted against
defects in materials and workmanship for two (2) years from
date of shipment from the factory. |

| 2.02
|
Components:
|
|
A.
|
Motor
shall be synchronous planetary drive. The 30-watt motor shall be rated
for up to 70-lbs. drapery weight capable of spanning 23'. Motors
can be wired in tandem and can be butted together into a 46' wide
center draw unit. Motor shall operate at constant speed regardless
of load. Motor shall be either 110v/60Hz or 220v/50Hz and
are UL and CSA recognized. Motor shall have fully encapsulated shock
resistant motor coil and are moisture resistant and fire resistant.
Motor shall also have thermal protector for automatic switch off to
prevent overheating. Each motor shall be provided with precision planetary
gears and internal limit switches protected by security cover. The
limit switches shall ensure automatic motor switch off at the end
of traversing and rotation cycle. |

B. |
Drive
Assembly and Return Assembly shall be manufactured from injection
molded plastic. |
|
C.
|
Headrail
shall be manufactured from extruded aluminum 1-3/4" in width,
1-7/16" in height with .051" wall thickness. Headrail
shall be designed to present a narrower headrail profile for special
applications. |
|
D. |
Screw
drive rod shall be composed of extruded aluminum and pushes the carrier
along the head channel. |
|
E.
|
Rotation
drive rod shall also be formed of extruded aluminum and turn the vanes
180 degrees at the end of the cycle. |
|
F.
|
Carriers
shall be manufactured from precision molded acetyl resin to ensure
smooth operation inside head channel. Each carrier shall be spring
loaded and provided with stainless steel metal hook. The carriers
will be no more than .425" (11mm) wide. The carriers shall
rotate to a full 180 degrees for full closure and will be provided
with 150-degree rotation control for movement into stack to prevent
jamming of stacking vanes. |

Wall
brackets are made of extruded aluminum and fit into headrail slot.
Drilling directly through the headrail center channel shall make ceiling
mount possible. |

|
Controls:
|
|
A.
|
The
switching device to activate the system shall be either a BTX switch
for hardwired control or the BTX radio or IR remote control. Multiple
systems shall be controlled either individually or by BTX group controllers
or automatic controllers including sun sensors and programmable digital
timers. Controls can be integrated with home automation, or building
management systems. |
|

Part
3 - Execution
|
| 3.01 |
Inspection
and Preparation: |
|
A. |
Qualified
installer shall be responsible for window measurements prior to installation,
installation conditions, and preparation of all mounting surfaces.
|
|
B.
|
The
power supplied shall be 110v or 220v AC three conductor to the primary
switch (hardwire switch, radio or IR receiver unit, or BTX automated
controls). Wiring between primary switch and selected control
units shall be in accordance with manufacturer's wiring schematics
and specifications. All on site wiring shall be provided by the owner.

Installation:
|

A.
|
System
installation shall be in accordance with BTX mounting instructions.
|
| 3.03
|
Maintenance:
|
|
A.
|
Traversing
system components should not require routine maintenance under normal
operating conditions. |
|
B.
|
For
fabric care refer to fabric manufacturer's care and use directions.
